What to Ask During a Maid Interview
A good interview reveals far more than a biodata sheet. Use these questions to get a real sense of fit before you decide.
About experience
- What were your day-to-day responsibilities in your last household?
- What's the longest you've stayed with one employer, and why did that placement end?
- Have you cared for [children/elderly/pets] before, specifically?
About routines and expectations
- How do you usually structure your day if no one gives you specific instructions?
- Are you comfortable with [your specific household routine, e.g., early mornings, particular diet]?
- What would you do if you were unsure how to handle a task?
About communication and comfort
- How would you let us know if something's wrong or you're struggling with a task?
- What language are you most comfortable communicating in day-to-day?
Watch for vague or evasive answers
If a candidate gives only very general answers ("I can do everything") to specific questions about past experience, ask a follow-up for a concrete example. Specific answers are a good sign; vague reassurance on its own isn't.
